The situation
A multi-family office whose clients hold significant crypto portfolios. Banks, funds and auditors wanted financial statements, and nothing in the office's systems could produce them.
They needed it done once, quickly, and then again across their client book, without adding work on their side. They stay in front of the client, and we are the engine behind them.
What we found
- Years of trading spread across exchanges, wallets and cold storage.
- Exchange records that didn't go back far enough for the early years.
- Purchases missing across a two-year stretch, and stored balances that didn't agree with withdrawals.
- Withdrawals recorded as drawings, which broke the balance sheet.
What we did
The first job was fifteen months of trading across four exchanges, needed within weeks. We pulled the raw transaction data from every exchange and wallet and classified every transaction.
Rebuilt the missing years and valued every holding at fair value under IFRS at each year end.
Financial statements with a cover letter and management summary written for banks, plus a repeatable approach for their wider client book.
There was no complete record to reconcile back to, so the answer had to be built and then tested rather than simply extracted.
We ran our reconstruction alongside an independent specialist as a second check, and resolved every difference one at a time.
Before and after
| Before | Now |
|---|---|
| No view of clients' crypto positions | Every holding valued at fair value |
| Years of trading with no statements | Statements for 2017 to 2025 |
| Withdrawals breaking the balance sheet | Every transaction classified |
| Banks asking for what nobody could produce | Statements banks accept |
| A one-off problem | A repeatable reporting approach |
What we hand over
The office provides the data, and we deliver the statements, with the office in front of its client throughout.
